SHELDON FRIEDLAND
Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Friedland, a life member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants,
was a senior partner with the firm Wm. Eisenberg and Co., Chartered
Accountants for over 30 years until that firm�s dissolution, following which
he founded his own practice. Recently, he merged with Stern Cohen,
Chartered Accountants, where he presently acts as a consultant, having
retired from full-time practice to pursue other interests. During his
career, Mr. Friedland acted as business, tax advisor and auditor to many
national and international firms. His focus has always been on developing
companies and cross-border transactions.
COREY E. GOODMAN
Executive Vice-President and General Counsel
Corey Goodman is currently General Counsel to an Income Fund which owns
and operates 485 quick service restaurants across Canada. He oversees
government relations, capital spending, new store development and real
estate for the Fund. Mr. Goodman previously worked on an international lobby
effort to secure the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. He volunteers his time with
several charity groups and is a member of numerous professional
associations. Mr. Goodman graduated Summa Cum Laude from college and was
awarded the County of York Law Association Centennial Award upon his
graduation from law school.
KENNETH D. TAYLOR O.C., LL.D.
Board Member
Mr. Taylor is Chairman of Taylor & Ryan Inc., consultants to governments
on issues of political risk, international marketing and strategic
accommodation.
During his career as a foreign service diplomat, Mr. Taylor�s duties
ranged from trade development responsibilities in Guatemala, Detroit and
London and served as the Canadian Ambassador to Iran. In recognition of his
activities in Iran he received the US Congressional Gold Medal and was
awarded the Order of Canada (Officer).
Following his resignation from diplomatic service, his private sector
experience included several years as a Senior Vice President of both Nabisco
Brands/RJR Nabisco. During this period of time, his primary worldwide
responsibilities involved the formulation and implementation of policies to
strengthen the $18 billion Corporation�s international interests and
relationships.
His Board memberships include energy companies in Calgary, New York and
Mexico City as well as financial service institutions in Toronto and
consumer goods enterprises in California.
GERALD J. LOZINSKI
Board Member
Jerry Lozinski is an entrepreneur who started his business in 1977 in
steel distribution with companies throughout the United States and Canada.
He is a director of a not-for-profit organization and is Chair of the First
Equity Benefits of America, Inc Audit Committee. He also participates on an
international panel of basic and clinical cancer experts on new technologies
and approaches using genetics to try and create individualized therapy for
cancer patients. Mr. Lozinski has a B.Com and an MBA in economics and
finance, graduating in 1967.
CECIL FLEMING
Board Member
Mr. Fleming is a Chartered Accountant, a fellow and Life Member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants. He became a Partner of Dunwoody &
Company (now BDO Dunwoody) in 1966 and was CEO for sixteen years until
retirement from the Firm in 1996. He was then appointed CEO of BDO
International in Brussels, Belgium (overseeing its growth from $1.3B US to
$2.4B US) until his retirement in 2002. He serves, and has served, on
professional committees and has been a speaker at conferences. He has been a
director of various non-profit organizations over the years.
RALPH E. LEAN
Board Member
Mr. Lean is a Senior Partner with the law firm of Cassels, Brock &
Blackwell. Mr. Lean was called to the Bar in 1973. He is a well known and
trusted advisor in both the business and political sectors. Mr Lean serves
on many public and charitable boards and has been in the forefront of
strategic planning on behalf of both domestic and international clients.
